CENTRAL BOTTLING COMPANY

Out of nowhere a collector friend of mine came up with a bottle from Coeburn that I hadn’t seen before. It was marked “Central Bot’lg Co” Coeburn, VA. I thought I had heard of every bottler in Coeburn, but this one still has me stumped. The rectangular slug plate containing the name reminds me of straight side Chero-Cola bottles from Bristol. It is possible that this was a temporary renaming of the Coeburn Bottling Company after the new plant was relocated in between Banner and Coeburn in 1914. This would explain the rectangular slug plate which was prevalent during the late teens. Until I can find more information I’ll make a separate page dedicated to this bottler.
